This is a reread of Pursuing and I have to say that I love Mason Connor now more than ever!

Jo’s past relationships have left her unable to trust a certain type of man. She’s determined to not make the same mistakes again. So when Mason walks onto the football field with his dazzling smile and sexy presence, she instantly puts up her guards. However, before she knows it, Mase has finagled his way into a dinner date and then he’s brokered a deal with her that she finds impossible to say no to.

As soon as Mase laid eyes on her he knew that she was his. Unfortunately, when he attempts to get to know her she shuts him down pretty quickly. With his easy charm and quick wit he doesn’t have to work at gaining a woman’s attention but with Jo he’s willing to put in the hard work to win her over. Soon, he wants it all, but in order to have it he’s got to prove to her that she can trust him.

I absolutely loved this couple together. Mase was so totally dedicated to Jo and intent on winning her over, not just for a night but forever. He’s the true definition of an alpha hero and each time that part of him reared itself I found myself grinning from ear to ear. Jo was a strong independent heroine, a social worker for child protective services, and had a heart that needed to give and receive love. Her past mistakes made it hard for her to allow it free reign and she struggled to learn to accept what Mase was not only telling her, but showing her as well.

This is such a perfect book to curl up with and just simply enjoy. The angst is relatively low, the steam is off the charts sizzling, and the characters are so real you’ll wish they were your friends. I loved absolutely everything about this book but add on an epilogue that was perfection as it gave us a look at characters from previous books as well, and I was in book heaven.

With so many indie books populating the ebook market right now, I've been more selective of what I read and I've become more critical of what I read. I'm not saying that indie authors or books are bad. Not. At. All. In fact, some of my favorite books and authors are self-published such as authors and books of K.C. Lynn, Lynda Chance, J.S. Scott, Aurora Rose Reynolds, etc. Yet, with the flourish of self-publishing, it's been harder for me to find books that are spellbinding (because let's face it there are some indie books that are just awful), so when I find indie books that are amazing, it's equivalent to finding a needle (or in this case a gem) in a haystack and I can say that that is the case for Pursuing by Sarah Curtis.

Let me just say that I am beyond happy to discover Sarah Curtis, who is a fairly new author with three self published books under her belt. Yet, from reading her series, you wouldn't make the assumption that she's a new author...at least I didn't. I believed she was a seasoned author with a vast array of books and much to my disbelief she's only published three.

To be honest, when I started reading Pursuing I didn't expect much, but within the first pages I was immediately hooked. I LOVED this story of Mase and Joanna. Mase may be one of my favorite romance heroes ever...and trust me I've read A LOT of romance novels throughout the years, but he made a lasting impression on me. I have read books where some "heroes" doesn't come off as alpha, but rather crazy and controlling (that's not sexy at all and he should be hit with a restraining order). Mase was not. He was the epitome of an alpha male protective, caring, tender, patient, sexy with a dirty mouth, obsessive and full of nothing, but love and loyalty for the heroine. If he could be bottled up and sold, I'll be all over that. As for Joanna, I loved her character as well. She had reservations and doubts, but she knew she wanted Mase and gave him a chance to sweep her off her feet and boy, did he ever.

"I am so scared of this of, of you. So scared this isn't real and that I'm going to fall so damn in love with you because you're everything I've ever wanted, then come crashing down to break into a million pieces when you're gone. But what petrifies me the most is that I'm going to ruin this before we even get started because I'm so scared of falling in love."

He captured her under the arms, bringing her flush atop his chest. He wrapped his arms and legs around her, enfolding her in a tight embrace. Her head fell onto his shoulder, secure in the crook of his neck. "Do you feel that? Feel me wrapped around you, holding you tight?" He didn't wait for her answer before he continued. "That's me, holding on, not letting you go. And I'm going to keep holding on, so when you do fall, I'll be there to cushion the blow, and I promise you, Angel, you won't even feel the landing."

She dreamed of Mase that night, and her dreams were sweet.

I loved the plot and everything about the story. Their relationship had a nice gradual buildup and the author penned it nicely as to where it was natural and believable. There was depth to their characters and sexual tension mixed with an abundance of chemistry between Mase and Joanna. The pacing was good and it never felt bogged down with unnecessary details and what not. I was sad when I was approaching the end of the story because I didn't want to say goodbye to Mase and Joanna.

Simply put, I loved reading Pursuing. Mase and Joanna's story reminds me of why I started reading romance years ago which was to get lost in a love story so strong it can be felt through the pages, to be enamored by the characters who become like friends and family you never want to let go and for the happily ever afters that leave you feeling content and that all is right with the world again. Sarah successfully delivered with Pursuing. I am in awe and I cannot wait until Sarah publishes her next book.
Mason & Jo's story was a fabulous, random find! It's book 3 in a series, but can be read as a standalone (I hadn't read the other books & I wasn't lost at all, AND the way characters from other stories were written in was very smooth).

This story would make a great recovery read - it's quick & fairly light, altho Jo has some things to work through. It's definitely a story of PURSUIT. Mase & Jo are together for the whole story, getting to know one another, building their relationship & it's a sweet w/ STEAMY TIMES read. Also has a great wrap up ending, which I loved! )

I am so glad I discovered this new author. Her books are so sweet with great hero's and heroines. The way her characters relate to each other has me melting. I love alpha male insta love and she delivers just that. Thank you Sarah Curtis for such a wonderful series. I would definitely recommend this book to any aurora rose reynolds fans. This is really just a feel good book.
I loved that all of the hot alpha-males, Jackson, Gage and Mase all fell head over heels in love with Alexis, Cassie and Jo as soon as they saw them! They all had to step up their games and convince these strong, independent, sexy women that they were worth trusting their hearts to them. This book is Mase and Jo's story and it has everything love, romance, danger, troubled teenagers, football and a life and death situation that had me on the edge of my seat!
